switch to the Nuva Ring (read all 2 entries…)
Did it....but think I'll go back to pills.

On the ring, I now have a lot of discharge and I’m even more afraid to solicit for oral sex with my boyfriend (one of my last-ditch efforts to try and get turned on), and I’m afraid of it coming out every time I have a bowel movement. I have to think of it more than I had to for remembering to take pills. I haven’t seen any change in my libido anyway – I still don’t feel much of anything down there anymore :(. So I think I’ll save myself the $15 a month and go back to pills.

hormones

Nuva Ring still has the same hormones as the pill, so it probably wouldn’t change much as far as desire levels. Different brands of pills have various doses of estrogen/progestin though. Perhaps your doctor can suggest a different one next time?

Have you tried those progestin only pills (mini-pills) or Depo Provera? Alternately, non-hormonal methods would be IUD and cervical cap/diaphragm. IUD seems the easiest/most convenient, however, my friend uses one and said she gets a lot of painful cramps using it. But hormones make her crazy so I guess she’s stuck with it. They last up to 5 years though! That would be convenient.
