this is an ongoing goal, as you can never know all of the details of someone else’s life. i only see my parents once or twice a year, and they’re both getting old (she’s 65; he’s 75 and has diabetes), so it’s something i plan to do each time i see them. my dad is beginning to feel the depression of old age; one of the few times he is consistently happy and excited is when he’s talking about his past.
