I posted a question today on FaceBook (that other place that takes up my time) asking friends for suggestions about financial matter. Along with the expected silly responses, a childhood friend reached out via private message and sent me his phone number so we could talk about his ideas for me.
I first met WW when I was 12. Through Jr high and High School we were always friendly and had many friends in common. But we lost touch after graduation. Thanks to FaceBook, he’s in my virtual-life. Occasionally, we’d post or comment on each other’s wall but today, we actually spoke.
As soon as I heard his voice, I was taken back in time. Before I could say it, he did: “Your voice sounds the same!” How does that happen, that we recognize voices we haven’t heard for over 30 years? We spent a good 1/2 hour catching up – his 2 sons still live in our hometown with his ex-wife (he lives in Texas now – far away for a Jersey Boy). We had such a great conversation that we almost didn’t get to the “business” matter.
A totally unexpected call – but one that made me feel good all day. There’s something about reconnecting with people that makes me smile
