I had the secret desire to shave my head since I was in my teens but didn’t have the nerve to do it. Back then shaved heads were not common as today, unless you had lice or were a prisioner or something like that. Years passed and more and more people started to wear shaved heads and I was envious fo them, so I decided to give me a try. Started cropping my hair very short but still hadn’t guts to shave it smooth. Early 2002 I asked the barber a #0 crop for the first time. Back home I looked at the mirror and thinked: “well if I went so far, I’ll just shave it all of”, took a razor and got rid of what was left. Then I was completely bald and had my secret desire fullfilled. I was very happy but a little ashamed and hid my bald scalp with a cap for the first week, then started showing it in public with no fears. I was worried what other people would think butl almost nobody cared and most people said the bald look fits me well.
Eventually I let my hair grow back but from then on repeated the experience hundreds of times.
I like the whole process: shaving it all, seeing it grow back, shaving again. There’s no routine. Sometimes I keep shaving smooth every other day for a while, then let it grow a little and shave again. Most practical for me is going to the barber every week or two and ask for a zero crop. Eventually in winter I stop shaving for a while but then start shaving all over again. Presently I have a little hair but of course I’ll shave smooth again and again…
It’s a wonderful and delicious sensation.
My advice for those that want to but never dared to do that is: DO IT! At least as an experience. Hair grows back faster than one can think, so if you simply don’t feel comfortable with the bald look, just let it grow back again. But of course most headshavers get addicted like me.
