Running TO, on the other hand, CAN solve problems

Running away implies fear, and an inability to cope. Running to implies bravery, and a desire to achieve a goal.

Re-frame your goal positively, and you’ll find it worth doing.

That said, I’m not certain that running away creates more problems. It certainly puts some ‘on hold’, and these may merely emerge in a slightly different guise. But it depends on the nature of the problem. If you can’t get a job in town X, and move to town Y where jobs are plentiful, then running away from town X/running to town Y DOES solve that problem. If the problem is more personal than circumstantial, then a change of scene is less likely to solve that problem, and more likely to bring a change in its expression. What are you really running away from?
