I was running sooo late due to buying my new car. I was contemplating calling out even though it was like 40 minutes or so to my shift. I told them I was going to be 20 minutes late instead. I ended up staying at the dealership so much longer than I wanted to and ended up being an hour and 10 minutes late for work. I felt so bad but I know I didnt want to call out because of this goal and I also didnt want to be fired.
