This museum has the distinction of being the first museum of strictly American art in the United States. I’d never been there which is a shame because it is a beautiful museum. They have a great mix of important permanent pieces and interesting rotating collections and exhibits. My favorite piece – “Bridge” by Peter Waite, a painting of the Arrigoni bridge in Middletown, Connecticut. I loved the angle the artist captured the bridge, and I really just love this bridge so much. I get giddy everytime I have the opportunity to drive over it, so I really liked this.
