When I was in undergrad I used to volunteer for the Humane Society by letting puppies and kittens that were too young to be adopted live with me. They are eligible for adoption at eight weeks old, so I fostered two Boxer puppies for four weeks and three kittens for about two weeks. It was an extremely exhausting but fulfilling endeavor and I plan to start doing it again in the next few weeks. I can’t wait to post their adorable pictures!

I love Boxers. They are so cute. I like their chubby little faces. Hm. I read through some of your pots, so I will try to not take up too much space and squish it all into here. You seem really nice and wonderful; I am glad you have a guy who treats you well and makes you happy, eventhough you are stressed; I never met a girl called Bryce. It is such an awesome name.
The end. :)
Thanks for the sweet sentiments!
LOL, Boxers are extremely cute and loveable. I, too, read through a few of your entries and it’s good to hear that your man still gives you butterflies in your stomach (the morning wake-up call). I am extremely stressed… but then again so are you eh? I have an extraordinary idea! We should both enjoy a full-day at the spa followed up by a decadent candle-lit dinner (care of our boyfriends)!

That sounds like a plan :)
I’ll pitch that proposal to my boy.
RIGHT NOW :)
Chicken Little
I chickened out, asked my man to give me a full-body massage and cook me dinner instead. I get it tonight so I’ll let you know whether or not the spa experience would have been better!

I want a massage!
Do you want to hear something outrages:
My man has never ever given me voluntarily a massage. In 2 years.
I have manged to force him to 1 1/2h body massage in total, one handedly (because he was too lazy to sit up),... inclusive feet!
He’ld rather build me a car, sand it down, and repaint it.
I think I will revise my list of expectations :)
Thanks
LOL, actually I got really nervous when the guy asked me how many puppies I’d be willing to take care of, you’re right in saying that I’ll be utterly exhausted. It’s wonderful that you foster adult dogs, do you find yourself getting attached and having a hard time letting them go? The Humane Society in my area is a no-kill facility so that’s the most important factor to me. Thanks for the info on the rescue groups, although I’ll probably drop them off at my bestfriends house if things get too hectic.
Yikes!
Heaven knows I couldn’t afford $325 per cat, do they think money grows on trees? I had those same rules when I lived in an apartment and I still smuggled animals in (to my roommates chagrin!). I also had to sneak in 8 kittens for a weekend while I lived in the dormitory at U of M! I was certain that the R.A. would bust me (they cried 24/7) but I lucked out. Thanks for the support, maybe I’ll get them next week!

White deaf kittens
I adopted a deaf white kitten for 2 weeks and smuggled it into my apartment. It destroyed everything.
Positives of deaf kittens:
You can look Scarface as loud as possible with them snoring away on your lap
Negatives:
You can say “No, don’t eat my fish/ chips/ couch, boyfriend, curtains”... and it won’t listen. :)
BELLALOUISA has gone to doggie heaven
I admire all of you for helping out my homeless friends. My owner rescued me and I am so lucky to have her and she says vice versa.
Cats are nice, but dogs are the greatest.
I wish I had more cheers!
I only have one cheer left, but with more I would cheer you for your fostered puppies, kittens, cats and dogs (not in any particular order, I love them all). I especially cheer you and everyone else here who fosters animals who need homes!
I’ll be joining you all soon in fostering, though I will probably end up keeping whatever pet I get. Adoption is the best way.
Thanks PrettyBaby!
You are absolutely correct in saying that adoption is the best option, but to my dismay I won’t be able to have a pet until I finish school (which will apparently take an eternity). Thanks for your support and your cheer, I really needed it! Sadly the Humane Society had an outbreak of diarrheal infections so none of the animals are currently being fostered. Your bird is very pretty, what type is it?
Fostering and adoption are better than buying
He’s a cherry-headed conure. A lovable earful.
It’s a shame they won’t let the foster families take animals home on anti-diarrheal meds, but I can understand the reasons.
BTW, I didn’t mean to say that adoption was better than fostering, but that (both) are better than buying. I wish I could do it, but my situation won’t allow it just yet. Good luck with the furries!
