We realized our lender might not be able to get our mortgage approved in time for an April 1 closing, so this morning we found another lender who can.

Things are complicated because we’re doing an FHA loan, with help from a down-payment assistance program.
This is our second house, and things seem a lot more complicated this time.
The new banker didn’t hesitate when I said we want to close 4/1. The first one said it could be three weeks before he got approval for the down-payment assistance program from his corporate office in CA.

We’ve actually changed lenders a third time – we’re back with our credit union, which doesn’t offer as competitive rates, but is more willing to work with us. It’s going to raise the monthly payment by @ $80, but it’s better than not getting anything.
