It’s a little difficult to explain. Once you learn how to fly, all the safety techniques etc, you get ‘signed off’ by different instructors who take you up on test flights where they test your abilities at flying a glider. These flights are put down in a log book, and after a certain number of succesful test flights you are signed off to go solo.

It’s hard work, but so very worth it. A couple of months ago I went gliding in Spain, awesome.

The best thing to do is to sign up at your local gliding club, sometimes they even do courses to fast track you through the learning process. This doesnt mean you learn less, it’s just more intensive.

I really recomend you do learn, it really is worth the time and effort.
