This year, I’m determined to have vegetables survive. (Last year they died while we were on vacation, except one tomato and the okra.)

Well, I’ve got seeds going for four types of winter squash, yellow summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, three types of heirloom tomatoes, two types of bell pepper, and watermelon, plus some lettuce sown outdoors.

The Candy Roaster squash was the first to germinate, but the cucumbers weren’t far behind. The Black Beauty zucchini and yellow crookneck squash are making progress, along with the Connecticut Field and Fortuna White pumpkins. The Sweet Dumpling squash is just peeking through the soil. The Radiator Charlie tomatoes are doing well, but the Georgia Streak and Big Italian Plum tomatoes are doing NOTHING. Neither are the bell peppers, or the blue pumpkin.

Hopefully, I’ll see some more green before the end of the month!
