write to a soldier in iraq
I have no idea how to do it

i actually went to a few sites and put my information in, and expressed my interest in writing to a soldier in Iraq, but never got ANY response. Has anyone tried to do this through any certain organization?

writing troops

I have never written the troops, but I was one of them about two years ago.

While I was there I saw some letters that were addressed: To any Marine, Sailor, etc.

So you’ll have to find an address, write, and hope that somebody writes back. Commanders might respond to people that they don’t know, but I noticed that your regular troops usually do not.

Here is a website address with instructions. I hope this helps.

hey thanks

looks harder than i thought it was _ which is understandable re: terrorist attacks by mail and/or contraband type stuff.

you can

send through www.anysoldier.com
Seems a good way to encourage the troops. Though I was a bit distressed to find out that soliders are asking for kool aide, seems we could do better by the military.

During the first Iraw conflict inthe 1980’s I wrote to any airman and actually got a ton of responses- probably because I was a 18 yr old female…. LOL.

anysoldier.com

You can go to www.anysoldier.com and request a unit to write to, through picking a soldier. there are a few rules. use one e-mail address for your request. you cannot request more than three soldiers a day. if you try using multiple e-mail addresses you will be prohibited from using the site. You can choose from Navy, Amry, AF, and Marine Corps, if you hava a preference.

www.AmericaSupportsYou.mil

You may not be able to send a letter to “Any Soldier” (Airman, Marine, Sailor), but there are plenty of organziations supporting troops on the America Supports You web site that could use your help!

I Found ...

I just came across a website called www.soldiersangels.org . You can adopt a soldier but you have to be serious about it. They ask you to send 1 letter a week and i think one care package a month. It sounds pretty interesting though… I will probably give it a try…

Thank you for this info. awesome.

no problem
