Spread the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (read all 3 entries…)
I worry about the world some times...

I just read this over at The Register :
~A BBC survey into Brits’ views on evolution has found that while 48 per cent of people opted for evolution as that which “best described their view of the origin and development of life”, 22 per cent opted for creationism and 17 per cent for for intelligent design. The remainder of the pollees “did not know”.~

Things like this scare me, I mean really keep me up awake at night wondering what the world is comming to. Even before I realised the fundemental flaws of all religion, Evolution was a given… sure, there are gaps, but a whole bunch of evidence, with some holes we don’t yet understand doesn’t mean that an alternative theory, with no evidence at all must be correct.

Sometimes I just want the FSM to come by and tell me it’s all okay, and that people are really a lot smarter then they pretend to be.

Amen to that!

Urm… oops! ;) But yeah… it’s like, “We’re not smart enough to understand the laws of probability theory, so we’re going to believe something completely out there and unprovable instead”. Help!

Exactly

There was a program on BBC2 Last night about the whole Inteligent Design vs Evolution debate.

I have to say, the supports of ID were very well briefed so as to never actually say that the ‘designer’ was God, so as not to implicate any legal cases, you could actually see they were trying so hard to say “Yes, God created all things” not just “Well thats one option you could read into it, which I personally like to think.”

But of course, the whole basis of their arguments were just that, “We don’t understand this, so it MUST be God, stop looking now..” when people should be saying, “We don’t understand this, lets figure out whats going on.”

Agnosticism...

I think no one can know ANYTHING
some claim that although that is true—we cannot know- the difference is FAITH… which is chosing to know, or something like that.

I think I am too little to know, and too lazy to spend time caring.

Do you really want to spend time trying to fugure things out that our little brains probably will never have the understanding to do??? That would make me even more insane than I already am… good luck.

What we know

The only way we are communicating right now, is between two machines that operate at microscopic levels of detail that transmit over thousands of miles of copper and fibre optic cable, to be stored in yet another machine where thousands of other people are doing the same.

Passing information about in a way that seems simple on the surface, yet has taken the efforts of hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of people all of who have challenged traditional notions and searched for new knowledge and answers to come to a point in time where what even a couple of decades ago would have seemed like science fiction.

Faith is important, but we know so much now compared to 2000 years ago, that what we have faith in needs to change.
