go to college
It depends on circumstances

Being a senior in high school, I’ve learned a lot about how the college system works. I had, for much of my high school career, above a 4.0, because I was part of the IB program. That said I come from a low income family. So when I was accepted to my top pick colleges I couldn’t just accept them because I didn’t really have the money, but there is a local college I could go to.

I want to dream and go out like anyone else does, but sometimes circumstance dictates when we reach our goals, but not IF we reach our goals. I’m going to get a job to eventually experience life in the city; however, for now, I’m going to appreciate whatever education I start out with. I’ll have my family here and security.

where there's a will...

Don’t just give up on your top choice schools! If you have a 4.0 and good test scores, you can try negotiating directly with admissions offices and see if you can get a better package. Then there’s community scholarships and work/study and all that. If you really show an interest in a school, they’re often more willing to meet you halfway than you’d expect. Take it from me – I paid eleven thousand dollars this year for what is supposedly $45,000 worth of liberal arts education. :)

I’m incredibly happy to say that another college I wasn’t expecting to give me money has given me a full ride. I’ve excepted them and all be even closer to my goal of living in San Francisco…Santa Cruz is a lot closer to SF than where I live.
