The Warrior Queen & The Jellied Eel Meeting challenges; learning; growing
...to move things along.
I’ve been stuck in a style rut for some time now; some things are utterly me (funky hats and kick-arse boots), some things not so much (bad hair and sweatshirts).
I think the first thing will be to beg and plead with the God of Hair, Owner of my Tresses (a.k.a. my Hairdresser {yes, he deserves the capital ‘H’}) to please (please, pretty please, with icing and sprinkles on top) re-add me to his closed client list. Then make the appointment. Then go! He’ll say yes, he loves me ;p
Haircuts have not been part of my life for over two years now, having fallen by the wayside due to severe personal budget cuts…you’d probably laugh at how ridiculously excited I feel about this. Part of me is a leeeetle bit nervous as my hair is currently past my shoulders and this cut will be short. Cropped even. There can be no middle ground. Long or short, that’s the choices.
Two reasons for this: one, I’ve had it mid-length before and didn’t like the ‘neither here nor there’-ness of it and two, The God of Hair won’t allow it because he doesn’t like the way it looks on me.
Now perhaps I should explain…the GoH states that what is on my head is his hair and I am merely allowed to use it. He is so skilled that I trust him implicitly and happily agree with this view thereby allowing him complete freedom of expression with style and colour. In return I get a splendiferous ‘do’ and he also frequently gives me a hefty discount and some free products just because I let him play and be creative, which few of his other clients let him do. Win/Win.
He knows me well; my lifestyle, limited time, work circumstances etc.; and takes all of those things into account. He has never yet cut or coloured my hair in a way I don’t like or can’t manage without salon stylists on hand.
Can you tell I think this guy’s brilliant?!
So, that’s the first step to take I think and then, with a new sense of style and confidence atop of my bonce I shall look to up-styling my wardrobe.
Yay! Fun things ahead :-)
