Be kinder (read all 3 entries…)
My neighbour

brings out my unkind side. He just irritates me. He is rude, inconsiderate, and when he doesn’t know something, he just lies.

When my husband is around, he treats me fairly well, because he cares about my husband. When my husband is away, my neighbour is just plain ignorant towards me. If I try to visit with his wife, he needs to butt in an either starts criticising her, or does anything to get her attention away from me. Usually he is just rude to me until I leave.

He yells at his wife, he yells and sometimes beats his dogs, and has run several of his wife’s friends and relatives off when they came to visit.

I try to be kind, and feel that there must just be something wrong with him, but my deepest desire is just for him to leave me alone. I end up just hating him sometimes, and then he turns around and is all charming to me the next time I see him because me husband is there, or someone else that he is trying to influence.

Then, maybe I shouldn’t be kind in this case.

Comments:

Maybe that is good reason to be unkind.

Sounds like your neighbour is a bit of a psycho or at minimum, a control freak who doesn’t like women? It’s interesting that his behaviour changes when your husband is around.

Simon isn't ungoogleable.

I don't like your neighbour.

Knowing that he beats his dogs is enough to earn him a place high on my shit list.

Can’t you, say, accidentally run him over with your car? It’d make the world a better place.

Animal cruelty brings out my unkind side.

E Life is good when you accept.

This guy sounds awful.

Has the problem with him stopped or gotten anywhere since you first posted?

gottawonder Loves her tortoise!

Not really.

I don’t think his personality has changed. My survival tactic is just to stay away from him.

I’m not saying he can’t be nice, but that’s just scary too, because I don’t trust it. When he’s nice, I just think he wants something.

I personally think he’s capable of being decent, and he’s not totally a bad person, but he’s inconsistant, and unpredictable. I don’t feel safe around him.
