Got a phone call today about a job I was recommended for through the grapevine. I won’t know about an interview for another two weeks or so, but the principal sounds like he’s interested in having me do the gig. Of course, they have to fly the position and go through the interview process, but since he’s selecting the interview candidates, I’m pretty much a shoo-in.

I’m not sure whether I’m stoked or annoyed that so many teaching positions seem to be selected this way—it’s really more about who you know than what you can do.
