it really intrigues me that the more I learn about yoga(not just the physical pracrice, but the whole yogic philosophy), the more I find myself on the right path…that is if there’s a right path.
I am teaching 3 classes a week right now. After the first REAL teaching experienc, I asked myself if I could do this everyday, and I felt like I could. Then I got a position of teaching a drop-in class once a week. Been at the studio and be ready for drop-ins twice already, no one shows up. Guess that’s part of the process too, is to wait and see quietly. I am taking this weekedn course on Patanjali Yoga Sutras. Amazing stuff!!!
I just enjoy it so much!! Strenghtening my yoga belief and yet, wont take me to an extreme level of a religious addiction. I guess at this point, my question would be…how can I market myself as a yoga teacher???
Comments:
is yoga my thing?
Congrats! I just joined a “gym boutique” but I’ve yet to go to the yoga classes. I took this class one time where it was so hot you could fry an egg on my head! Hatha was it?
Anyhow it was not fun and I still remember feeling woozy and totally dizzy so I haven’t been back since.
I did watch Flow Yoga on tv and think that that was really cool. I’ll try yoga again when I’m a little more fit.
hmm..interesting
sounded like the type you did was bikram, which is hot yoga…hot yoga is not for everyone…it increases the flexibility of your muscles and joints due to the heat, but at the same time, it increases your heart rate as well…
i teach hatha…which is more gentle and slow…and minus the heat…
Flow Yoga is where I got my level 1 training. They are a sequence of movements combine with breathing and endurances…
If you like I’d like to invite you to my class :)
check out www.weights101.com or www.bluelotus.ws and you will find my classes :)

Wow I just checked out Weights! I’m really impressed! I’ll have to go there one day.
I’m shopping around right now. I was with Studeo 55 since the beginning of the year until I had a rather bad experience a week ago. Currently checking out the YWCA on Hornby, they’re pretty good but I find it a little crowded. Not sure if thats just this week because of the open house or if its normal. My coworker wants me to go with her to Mixx Co, so thats the plan for Monday!
What I really want to try are the pilate machines, I heard they had them at Sweat Co.
OH and I will definately will take you up on your offer but I think I need to get in shape a little more before I scare myself away from yoga again.
Cheers!
good for you!!!
Ok, being a personal trainer and a yoga instructor, i can definitely give you my two cents on gym hunting if you would like some…
I heard Studeo 55 is a good gym. I dont know what your encounter was but I am sure you can ignore that and make use of the membership while you are there…I have volunteered at the YW in 2005 for a whole yr…it’s a very nice gym…less expensive, but you are pretty much on your own, without the guidance of a trainer, unless you hire one( like me, :)..doing a little self-pitching). If you do sign up for the YW, take advantage of the complimentary Fitness Coaching session and ask many question as you want…i was once a fitness coach myself :)
MixxCo is one-on-one, and I think it’s a good studio…maybe a little pricy..but if money is not an issue, u can find out for yourself.
Have you tried pilates before??? You do Pilates with mat first, before you do the recliner(the machine)..sweat co as well as the movement space have them…so has denman fitness actually where i am currently working for as well…
weights101 is a private training studio. Prices are reasonable. Our classes there, is non-crowded as well…u know what i would really want to encourage u to come and try it out…dont feel intimidated cuz you would probably end up having a private session without paying private yoga fee :)
need more answers to your questions???
feel free to drop me a line anytime!!! in here or at yogame@gmail.com :)
cheers
Flow Yoga
ACK!
I came into work today and Joanna jumped at the opportunity to tell me about Flow Yoga. I don’t know how she talked me into it but now i’m participating in a drop in session at Flow! GRRrr!!! I think her analogy was .. “for those who say they’re not flexible enough to do yoga, its like saying you’re too dirty to take a shower!” How dare she call me dirty!
When is it happening again?
Hey Danny,
Is yoga class starting up again at Weights? Let me know .. I’ll join you one day!
