One of the best series of books I’ve ever read, possibly the best.
The only exception being the last book – “Mostly Harmless”.
Do not read this book unless you are prepared to be depressed and mortified beyond belief at how Adams ends the series. He was, apparently, in a very bad head-space when he wrote this – it’s the only book of the series I’ve never re-read.
For those that do read the final book, make sure you listen to the (new) radio series version. It ends in a much more satisfactory way than the book.
Don’t let this put you off the series in any way, though – the first four books are sublime and can happily be read without the last if needs be.
A must for, well, anyone!
