Saraband is trying :)
The present uk government states that issues receiving in excess of 100,000 signatures on it’s e-petition website will be debated in parliament. The required number of signatures has been achieved once but as the new(ish) government has only recently replaced the site established by the former government, it is necessary to collect the signatures again (sigh).
I’m not sure that it’s appropriate to ‘campaign’ here by giving a direct link to to the petition. Perhaps if it is considered acceptable someone will let me know. However if anyone feels that the environmental and business cases for the proposed high speed rail link from London to Birmingham are flawed and that the present economic climate is not conducive to such a massive financial investment please consider searching for the Stop HS2 petition on the website, or PM me for a link.
It only takes a moment or to sign :)
