Approaching this goal of my mine is starting to show its benefits. I am in a surgical residency program and as a team of 5 other residents, I am an asset because I am the only one that can effectively communicate with the Spanish speaking patient and share the information with the team. (smile)
Also, I know I am improving, because Spanish speaking people stop me for directions and I am able to answer them. Then, I can feel good knowing that my self-development in becoming Bilingual really makes in a difference for myself and other people’s lives.
Being bilingual in Spanish and English has so many benefits. I am more marketable in the workforce. I can related and show compassion to my patients.
