This weekend really opened my eyes. While visiting the in-laws we went to a local organic vegetable/animal farm nearby. The farm itself was small, the garden being no more than a few allotments in size, six sheep, a couple of cows, and small collection of chickens. The couple were in their 60’s but loving their life. Organic farming, they told us, was hard but the rewards outweighed even the worst scenarios. I’ve often wondered if the life of self-sufficiency was too romantic, that it wasn’t realistic and that it couldn’t be successful in this world, I’m so glad they proved me wrong.

There is a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot!
