Worried Sick

I just went through a really painful breakup, and in the process I managed to lose 15 pounds. It came off too fast because I was so depressed I couldn’t eat even if I tried forcing myself. This is not the way I wanted to lose weight and now I’m scared that I will gain since I’ve been able to return to my normal (albiet healthy) diet. I still have 20 pounds to my goal. Any suggestions on how to avoid the gain now that I can stomach food again?

The same way

you would keep regular weight off. Exercise, eating healthy, etc etc.

I am reading a book right now, called ” break though your set point; how to finally lose the weight you want and keep it off”

one of their ideas is that people can only lose 10% of their total body weight at a time, and then they have to wait 6 months before losing more weight (and then target for 10% body fat weight loss again)

so I guess the idea is, since I am 160 lbs now, I should target for a loss of 16 lbs.

If you lost more than 10% just try and eat a ton of really healthy food so your body doesn’t feel deprived. And if you already lost your 10% maybe rest for about 6 months and just let your body adjust to your new weight.

Congratulations for your weight loss!

:)

bermudamohawk I can do this.

try to avoid binging

Easier said than done, I know.

Several years ago, I had mono. I could barely eat for a week, and I lost 10 lbs. Once I started getting better, I found that I didn’t need to eat as much to feel full, and embracing that I kept the weight off for awhile. Until I eventually went into a binge phase, overeating and eating more junk. It was like I stretched my stomach out again and I couldn’t get enough food. And the weight piled back on.

And everything PepperyJasmine said about eating right and exercising :-)
