Finish a second book. (read all 5 entries…)
It's writin' time!

Well, it’s that time of the year again – NaNoWriMo time!

I can’t join in for various reasons(the main one being that published authors aren’t allowed I do believe) but I like the deadline and the knowledge that all over the world, other people want to kill anyone who interrupts their novelling spree as much as I do.

I have 7700 words so far. But don’t be impressed – I wrote 1700 yesterday and I wrote a bunch way back in my second year of university.

I’m adding a lot to the first chapter at the moment. A criticism in my first novel was that we didn’t learn very much about the main character, prior to her new life in the book. I also threw the reader in at the deep end, which I know can be annoying. So I’m taking some time to get the reader used to the protagonist this time, and also given her something she was lacking – a goal. It was all very well me setting up a situation I liked, but why should Cinders take this crazy job? Well now she has a reason. She’s also got some character development straight off the bat, which is nice. And some normal friends. And a life. Good for you, Cinders.

I'm also going to try and plan this thing out. I actually really hate planning, because I'm so BAD at it... but I need to plan it out, at least really roughly, to avoid a 'meandering middle'.

Okay, I just worked out that I have to write 1400 words a day approximately to finish on time.

Let’s do this thing! XD
