I had tried to learn it on my own this past summer, but just couldn’t remember the sounds for each characters separately. But after spending a week in Russia, I found that I could read it by the end (but still not as fast as Latin letters). I eventually learned all the characters just from practice- from looking at the signage that happened to be in both Cyrillic and Latin, and from context- words on signs that were similar to English or Polish. I’m so happy to know it now, it made getting around easier by the end of the week in Russia, and I get to practice some more on my upcoming trip to Kiev, Ukraine!
