A family attempt to live off the grid in New York City for a year. Well kind of, although I guess it’s ok to make concessions if you work in an office at Business Week during the day. I felt like they were being overly purist in some areas (eg giving up toilet paper) but it did motivate me to think more about things like farmers markets. The wife must’ve been a real trooper. You could tell she wasn’t entirely comfortable with the whole thing but in her quest to be supportive of her husband’s project she did eventually come round and genuinely grew as a result of participating.
