Holly is not doing so good on getting things done!

Visit my relatives in Winnipeg (read all 4 entries…)
Sooner than later?.

We had a baby and my brother in law called and asked when he could come out and meet his new nephew. It’s a bit tough as he’s allergic to dogs (and we have one) and we don’t have a lot of room to host him properly.

I’ve never been to Winnipeg to see him and his family so it would be fun to go. My husband suggested it and now we are looking at flights. However it’s pretty expensive in December but maybe some reduced rates will come up soon.

Then again, winter in Winnipeg where it gets to minus 40 doesn’t sound like too much fun!

Comments:

Amanda is relaxing in her jim-jams.

Winnipeg is a GREAT city, though. And they have lots of indoor-walkways throught downtown.

DocD I need ink.

My father lived in Winnipeg as a child

He told me stories about it, but I mostly remember his stories about the cold winters. One was how he tried to lick the frost off a metal street sign post and got his tongue stuck. I once flew over Winnipeg, and looking down, I thought, “Who would ever want to live there?”

All of Manitoba

is that cold. I grew up there, and the winters were often brutal.

Winnipeg just happens to be a city within Manitoba, that shares that climate.

What makes Winnipeg really bad is it’s main two intersecting streets, Portage and Main. The wind howls through that area, because the buildings channel it like a funnel.

Saskatchewan is just as cold, so is Alberta north of about Red Deer, and parts of Ontario.
