Last night the Santa Ana winds came, in force. And because there are lots of tall trees on my street, limbs broke off, and power lines sparked. And during the evening the Fire Department arrived to check things. This morning I had to go into work to help with ensuring that everything was safe, and the City already had crews out marking hazards. The Mayor declared a “State of Emergency” because power was out in so many areas, and trees and lines were down.

I went home around 8:30 a.m. to find one of my cats who had spent the night out (he came home, a little dirty but fine). And the crews were on my street checking the broken branches on the street trees. I have been EXTREMELY impressed by the efficiency and follow up the city provides. Sure, there are limbs in the gutters but things have been moved out of the street and life is fairly normal.
