Yesterday I went to a friend-of-a-friend’s party. I didn’t know anyone there except the two people I came with. I just sat down next to two people and said “hey, how’s it going.” I ended up meeting some really cool people. Looking back on the past few months, moving to a new city and having to create a new social group from scratch really forced me to get over my shyness. I could have never imagined myself being this gregarious, especially considering how painfully shy I used to be.
