I’ve done this several times in the past. It has usually been a helpful way to gain some distance – literally and figuratively – from my current situation, and has often allowed me to return to my life with a clearer head. Driving on the open road is great thinking/processing time. And it’s nice to just go and do whatever it is you feel like, unhampered by anyone else’s needs or expectations.
