stop worrying about what other people think (read all 48 entries…)
Today I made significant progress in this area.

We all have areas where we are especially vulnerable to falling into the trap of worrying about what other people think. Perhaps it is being afraid that people may think we are uneducated, or fat, or arrogant. Whatever it is, if a situation occurs where you are especially sensitive, that is the true test of your belief in yourself. I had that experience today. At work. In front of my boss and others. And when it happened, I didn’t react. I didn’t worry. I didn’t get embarrased. I just accepted that people will interpret things however they want and it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t change anything about me.

With that experience I would say that I have accomplished this goal. But I know that there will be other times when I fall back into the pattern of starting to worry about what people are thinking. Like dancing in public. Or singing out loud. Or talking to someone at work who is an executive.

But progress is always a good thing!
