I finished the Dunne book and now another, Nick Hornby, but I haven’t written about either. Not writing about what I read. It makes me worry that I’ll lose them
Comments:
Which Nick Hornby?
I read “How to Be Good” after reading “High Fidelity” and “About a Boy.” The latter two were funny and enjoyable, but I wasn’t crazy about “How to Be Good.”
The most interesting thing about that one was all the comments I received about the title!
The Polysyllabic Spree
It’s a collection of his monthly columns in Believer magazine.
I’m a fan of Hornby’s style, the hand over your shoulder pulling in you like a friend kind of writing.
So that’s one of the things I really like in this book.
I suspect, though, that they read better separated by a month and as columns than in a single sitting. Some of the charm wore off as the specific tactics became repetitive.
