move to seattle (read all 12 entries…)
Ideally

So it calls to me with it’s culture of coffee drinkers and computer nerds. I like the idea of this place and having a year to plan the move. I also found several books on Seattle and ordered them, physical books to write in instead of Kindle books. Looking forward to some mail.

Comments:

I live near Seattle.

I’m in a small town called Bremerton, just a ferry ride away. It’s a navy town. Everyone always heads to Seattle any time they want to do anything interesting.

The computer nerds hang out mostly in Renton, of course, because that is the headquarters of Microsoft. It’s pretty awesome there. Very family oriented, with lots to do. Bit expensive, though, for anyone who’s NOT working for MS.

You’re very right that there is a wonderful culture here. Folks are very genuine, even if sometimes they’re genuinely weird. The weather is mild… fine, if you don’t mind frequent gray drizzle nine months of the year. When the blue skies show, though, I’m sure there is no prettier place on Earth.

My SO grew up in Bremerton!

Small world.

Redmond, you mean

Oh yes! Redmond, home of Microsoft. I always get it confused with Renton. I’ve never lived in either place, just drive through sometimes.

Redmond border

It’s four or five blocks from my house. I usually ride my bike through Redmond everyday, so I have a pretty good idea of where it is :-)
