This goal was originally to memorize the Quran. I tried many times and failed…for many reasons; I would say on the top of them is that..unfortunately and sadly…Quran is not indeed a part of my daily life…it is not that I lived by it..I mean.. I try to…but…I don’t read regularly ..I don’t reflect on it that much…I don’t listen to recitations regularly :( so…how can I expect myself to memorize and simply…what would be my point of that? Therefore, and to be true to myself..I think I should first get into habit of reading the Quran on daily basis, and should first integrate it into my life. I will be making lots of duaa for myself inshallah + I will follow the 30 day plan and it entails committing myself to reading – even a small part (1 hezb to start with) for 30 consecutive days. Once I hit this mark, I will follow with 30 days of reading a rub’ everyday… then 30 days of reading 1/2 guz for 60 days ..and finally a guz per day. If I manage to read the Quran on daily basis until I make 10 full khatmas, I could then upgrade my goal to memorizing the Quran and might as well integrate this with my goal of teaching it to my daughter.
Today is the first day of 30 uninterrupted commitment to the Quran
P.S. I have been trying for the past week to stick to reading at the same time and place everyday ..that was after maghrib prayers… unfortunately, this didn’t work out for me…so I think the best thing for me would be to read my part first thing in the morning (I read in an electronic moshaf). This way, I don’t have excuses to skip the part. For the first 30 days, I will restart the plan anytime I miss a day.
