Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

How old were you when you got drunk for the first time?

Gho-s-t Noone lights a candle under the table , make your powers be known.

19.

I grew up in a christian conservative family.

Safe to say I had a very sheltered life.

I remembered when i went to college and I got invited to have some ‘drinks’.

I got smashed on half a cup of white wine.

People were like WTF.

Drinking with the girls from school, celebrating as we had managed to get in to a bar and thought we were so very cool.
Though that might have been the first time I got very tipsy.
First time I know I was properly drunk was when I was 17, just out of high school. That was the first time I ever went to a club

Collectorofcats No matter where I go in the future I'll remember 43 things.

I’ve drank a beer or two before then and even had spirits at Christmas but never got smashed. I think it was the second or third weekend after starting college. I also tried to give blood at that time. Aparently, underage drinking is easier in a college town then underage donating blood. I did manage to finally give blood on my 18th birthday.

When I lived in Mexico. At the time I thought I was just “tipsy” but I had nothing to compare it to, as I’d never really drank before. Looking back on it, after three beers I stood up to use the bathroom and starting stumbling. And my friends were all really concerned about my well-being. Not exactly tipsy :-)

I was 19

in college. I had never had alcohol before. I thought I had was coming down with a cold too because I couldn’t stop coughing. After just a few drinks I found myself tipsy never having had drinks before. Before long I was drunk.
I woke up feeling so terrible with a pounding headache and a fever. I thought I was hungover. But it didn’t end for two days, I had actually caught strep throat :/
That experience stuck with me for awhile and I haven’t really drank alcohol that much since. I enjoy a glass of wine every now and then though.

We stopped an absinthe bar while in Berlin and I needed to give it a try. Two shots later… That was an interesting first drinking experience.
