My unsolicited advice: Do what you can to mend the open wound. Sometimes I find it easier to express myself in the written form in lieu of the verbal form. If you’re the same way, perhaps you should hand deliver the letter, and ask him to read it while you’re still there.

Sorry to hear it is such a difficult day between your PM not working and thinking about what to do with your dad. That must be frustrating.

While I don’t know the details, my guess is that you don’t have to decide about the letter today; perhaps it can wait a day until you can talk to someone.

In the meantime, my advice would be to think of all of the possible repercussions that your letter could possibly cause. Such as-are you expecting a reply from your Dad? Will sending the letter help or hinder the relationship and are you willing to risk or accept either outcome?

I wrote a letter to my Dad a few years ago. It was one of the best and scariest things I’ve done, but of course, you have to decide what’s right for you.
