I am determined not to have a junk room anymore. I want to turn it into a library.

Today I was able to put a lot of stuff into the car to go to the thrift store. Knick knacks and dishes I don’t use. I’m not sure how far I can go with this, but I am sick of having a room that can’t be used for anything but storage.

I was at a woman’s house the other evening, and it was nearly empty. It wouldn’t take any time at all to clean, because there’s nothing to move, or sort, or organise.

While I don’t expect myself to get to that level of emptiness, I would like to have tables with nothing on them, counters with almost nothing on them, and rooms that are tidy, and useable, and welcoming.

I want to be able to have people over, and not need more than a little sweeping and tidying to feel like my home is presentable.

The best book on the market is ‘Clutter’s Last Stand’ by Don Aslett. It’s a goofy book with funny pictures, easy to read and really life changing. Read it from cover to cover and I’m positive you will make major life changes.

I did read his book.

While it doesn’t do much to address the emotional side of clutter, he makes a lot of good points about how to begin, what to do with it, and how ridiculous it is to hang onto so much stuff.
