Finally off the list waiting to make the list!

This is what I had written on my list waiting to make THE list. (This list!)

This I absolutely want to do down the road when my girls are a little older. For now, I need to worry about making sure they have someone home with them to keep THEM safe. ;)

Anyhow, this January I was listening to the radio when they said they were accepting applications (Deschutes County SAR) ... it was very time intenstive training in the beginning … the kind I didn’t have time for since I was in the middle of a heavy last term at EOU.

Fast forward to dead week (the week before finals). I was actually done with my finals, but I was up at OSU Cascades with three other massage therapists giving chair massage to students as part of Stress-Free Finals Week. Just earlier that morning I had been thinking how my time was finally freeing up and I would be a bit more free to incorporate more things into my life I’ve been wanting to do. SAR popped in my head and I began to wonder when they would be accepting applications again. Anyhow, the first student I had in my chair randomly asks, “So, have you ever thought of doing Search and Rescue?” It caught me completely off guard! We hadn’t even talked about anything yet that would have given him a clue that’s something I would be interested in. He gave me a lot of valuable information about SAR… I just wished I had gotten his name.

Anyway, so here it is on my list. According to my awesome SAR volunteer / business student / five minute chair massage client, DCSAR accepts apps every Jan! I have plenty of time to prepare. :)
