Starting

Okay, on 26-Jan-2012, I started at 217 lbs. Today I weigh 197 lbs. So, I’m down 20 lbs in 9 weeks! Let’s see how long it takes me to drop the next 5 pounds.

My sleep, eating, exercise has to be on par.

I’ve run out of multi-vitamins, so I need to get some more from my supplier. I forgot to say earlier in a different goal, I do take EFAs daily also. Those are essential fatty acids.

My diet is basically a paleo diet PLUS limited amounts of dairy (for cheese, it’s mainly raw cheese). This is considered a low carb diet. I do eat plenty of veggies. However, I don’t go hog wild on eating tons of fat, but I also am not concerned with low fat either. I try to not go crazy on the fat, as this is still calories I need to burn.

I do notice that when I’m eating more fat, the weight does come off quicker. Love my veggies, though. This is a must. I’m hoping that if I can consistently sleep and get all my workouts in, that in 2 weeks, I can drop the next 5+ pounds.

For workouts, right now I’m going through Funk Robert’s Spartacus 2.0 Program. It’s a beta program and has not been released to the public and he probably will do this in May. We are his test group. Those workouts are hard and they rock.

He has a bunch of workout videos on YouTube, so you should try those out. He’s ripped and they are tough workouts, but most likely, you have to be in relatively good shape or at least a high intermediate to advanced exerciser to perform his stuff.

You need a lot of leg & upper body strength to do a number of the exercises. My upper body has never been super strong, so I am really challenged with things like Dive Bombers or Hindu Pushups, which I have to substitute with something I can actually do to be effective.

Oh, I started at 33% bodyfat with a waist of 34”. Now, 9 weeks later with eating low carb (paleoish), exercise, sleep, minimal supplementation, I am at 24.15% bodyfat. That’s almost 9% in 9 weeks. That so rocks. Three of those weeks I was fighting some sickness, so that really stalled me, otherwise, I’d probably be getting closer to 22%.

My tummy pooch was 42” (that’s that belly hang area) and today it is 34.5” That’s 7.5”. It’s so exciting.

In terms of my diet (Now a lifestyle choice), it truly is easy to eat no grains or starches at all. I’ve learned how to mimic some of my favorite foods (rice, desserts, pasta) with some alternatives. As I’m a lazy cook, but desire delicious foods that are easy, I’ve learned how to cook even better without spending lots of time and money.

For rice, I make cauli-rice (cauliflower that mimics rice without all the calories and starch) for those dishes that have sauces. I use plenty of herbs & spices to give me great flavors. I use zucchini or cucumber to give me noodles without all those calories or starches.

Instead of using flours that are grains, glutens or starches, I can use coconut flour or nut/seed flours. One of my favorite items to use in place of breadcrumbs is ground flaxseeds. These are chock full of fiber and nutrients without all those calories and starches. These are significantly more expensive than the grain or rice flours, but I don’t use as much.

My diet would not be good for someone who is allergic to nuts, eggs, or dairy, but if you can eat these things, they are great!

The big thing with my diet is that I have ZERO cravings for complex carbs or refined sugar or bad fats. These would be things like french fries, fried rice, cheesecake, Chinese noodle dishes, pastas, potato chips, etc. Also, my salty & fatty cravings have gone away, too.

There are some days when I’m too lazy to cook much and all I do is eat eggs or more protein/fats and less veggies. Then, I do have cravings to eat fresh, raw veggies. That’s not a bad thing.

Anyway, if you’d like to follow my journey on how I’m losing weight, it’s in my blog “Doris’ Fitness & Health Blog”.

My goal is 15% bodyfat (just before ripped abs). I’ve never been below 23% bodyfat, so I haven’t hit my low yet. I’ve always had a tummy pooch, so I look forward to one day not having this. All this is done without gimmicks, diet pills, packaged foods, surgery. It does require discipline, hard work, consistency.

I have yoyo’d up and down the same 20-25 lbs and I’m ending this crap once and for all. It’s never been as easy as now to lose this weight. Once the cravings were eliminated, it’s just a matter of work and time. I’m so glad God has turned a bad situation around.

.

You’re doing soooo well! This is very inspiring – at least to me, to keep going and quietly join you by reading your posts and nodding to myself that I am doing something similar and see the same effects as you do.
Cheers
