My native language is Lithuanian. Before I started learning Norwegian I had already been learning other foreign languages (English, Russian, Spanish) for several years – developing and perfecting my own learning methods.

I am learning Norwegian by using books, dictionaries, newspapers, comics, and other audio or visual aid. Moreover, I am looking for an effective method for learning this language (without a teacher, without going to classes, all by myself). Here are some methods, which I use while learning:

• phonetic transcription
• focus on whole sentences rather than single words
• monolingual dictionary (e.g. Norwegian – Norwegian)
• monolingual learning materials – no other language involved
• reading books in the original
