Waynesworld The cold weather has arrived!

We're getting ready for the Advent season.

Other than knowing the musical notes and intervals for your part, blending well together, being as smooth as possible and synchronized with the other parts, having similar dynamic volume changes during the song, matching vowels, locking chords, staying on the proper pitch and sharing the same consistent emotions during the song, acapella quartet singing is easy! hahaha…

One of my most difficult challenges when singing “off the paper,” is memorizing all the words. The notes seem to come more easily for me than the words, especially if there are a lot of verses. I guess that’s typical of bass singers, lol, we have a good memory, but it’s very short.

Our church quartet, Revelation, performs secular songs, too. In addition to singing at church worship services, we have performed at many different types of functions, seniors’ homes, fundraising events, etc. We are a pretty fun group and have been singing together for over 6 years. I’ve learned most of my jokes from the quartet, lol. After that much time together, you really get a feel for the sound of the entire group as a whole.

The chords are very rich and each one of us has different strengths that we bring to the quartet to make our entire sound very tight and a joy for us to experience. It takes hours of practise to perfect what we want to do with a song. When an acapella quartet is “on” or “in the zone,” the sound is amazing. When even one part is off, it can sound simply awful. lol

Waynesworld has gotten 11 cheers on this entry.
