:) lol. It’s not too often you hear the world needs more librarians. Usually people say “Wow what a useless job. The internet can do your job much better and faster than you.” It’s nice to hear some appreciation.
until they need help. Then they don’t appreciate the help they get!
I’ve also spent many pleasant hours in libraries (and lusted after a librarian or two ;)).
The world would be a better place if there were less CEO’s and more librarians :)

The world would be a much poorer place but a much better informed place. They wouldn’t get all of their information from the first Google site they look at. Don’t get me wrong. I love Google, and I love the internet. I think they are fabulous inventions, but I like to get my information from reliable sources. Google is a tool to help with research, what Google comes up with does not replace research. Just my 2 cents on that. :)

Librarians are definitely not useless. I’d LOVE to spend my days surrounded by stacks of books and the people who adore them. Good for you!

I’m sure feeling the love. :) I think in the information age, librarians who sort and organize information are more important than ever. You also need people to be able to find that information. In about 10 years from now they predict that information will double itself every day. That is phenomenal. Although libraries have adopted e readers and e books, I still love a good book in my hands too.

Someone I know got together with two friends from college after 25 years. Of the three of them, the one who was the most current in terms of dress, popular culture, technology etc. is a librarian. She credits her job with helping her keep up with current trends and technology.

when you work in a library people ask you all kinds of things. Things like “where is the bathroom?” to “Whats the address to the United Nations?” to “I’m supposed to be in prison right now… Do you know any good places I can go?” Yes I actually got that question. Then right after proceeding to tell me this asks me out for lunch. I didn’t even know what to say!

You should start a Librarian blog about these. Or, write them down for a future book.
