The scheduled 10 hours of daily practice will continue until the very end of 2015, which, when combined with current totals, will leave me with 1,200 hours spare for more guitar practice and as room for scope. In view of that, I will spend an extra 1,000 hours on guitar practice during this 3.5 year period (making 16,000 hours total), this time focussing on creating my own compositions. Any spare time will be spent on singing.
I will also work towards another goal of amassing 5,000 hours of music theory study (incl. ear training), so I’ll be working on that for two hours a day alongside the 10 hours of guitar practice. So there I am – 2016! This leads me onto a further six months of study, now placing a much greater emphasis on music theory (eight hours a day), leaving me a thousand hours short of my 5,000-hour music theory goal, alongside two hours of guitar practice a day to continue to improve and make sure my skills don’t run slack, and three hours of working on my vocals.
Insofar as I can reasonably foresee, I can almost guarantee this four years total of intense practice and study. I will be almost 27 years old with 16,000 hours of guitar practice and 4,000 hours of music theory study under my belt, and over halfway to completing my thousand-hour singing practice goal. The basic structure of my current routine is what I will follow and it will allow for personal development, keeping up with news and world affairs, exercise, and non-music study, as well as some time for focussing on a bit of music recording and posting to YouTube. However, most recording and videos will take place post-2015.
Midway 2016 looks a bit murky to me right now, as I am none too sure of how my financial situation will look, so I may start teaching guitar or find myself in a non-musical job (temporarily). Either way, I will be working as mad as a hatter and will find time to complete the last few parts of my music theory and singing goals, compose more music, record videos, busk, performing gigs and doing band work. I will also focus on making a name for myself – it should be noted that it is simply a matter of time, and of course, I have many tricks up my sleeve too! All this in readying for relocation and subsequent conquering of London! >:)
