“There are 37 sensory inputs to the brain and not just the five…” ~Michael Tsarion The statement has been picked up by a few people on the web. I see no good evidence given to believe it. Seems like an important statement to have been backed-up. I trust Mr. Tsarion’s word a little less now.
But to continue a short way on the path proffered by Michael, what would it “feel” like to have lost a sense—then to get glimpses of one or more now & then? Might it appear briefly as a person we don’t like; suddenly too close for comfort, or somehow too familiar? Might it sound like a recently dead relative’s voice warning us of an impending danger? Would we be mad at ourselves for ignoring it – only to “pull in,” away from further consideration or exploration? How much of our self [“ourselves”?] do we lose every time we say No to our-self?
