When I was a kid, there was only one brand of yoghurt and it used to come in 3 flavours, plain, strawberry, chocolate and they were all sour :-$

Now days the yoghurt aisle in any supermarket is a nightmare! One look at the dairy cabinet and you start to stress about something as simple as buying yoghurt.

The problem here is that something simple has been made so complicated that it has been taken to the ridiculous.

The best advice I have ever had was “Find one brand of yoghurt you like and always buy that brand”. Don’t worry about if it is on special or not, don’t worry that brand X has just brought out a ‘new and improved’ version of the same thing. Just find the brand and taste you like and keep buying that.

Yoghurt shopping made simple.

And this is the kernel of a lot of the stress in our daily lives… we are presented with TOO MANY choices.

Don’t get me wrong, variety is ok, but when there are so many choices that you are crippled in making a decision, it’s time to simplify.

I took that advice and have applied it to all my grocery shopping. I no longer graze the aisles and I am no longer paralysed with indecision over the yoghurt, baked beans or toilet rolls.

Part of living simply – for me – is to take something that has been made un-necessarily complicated by marketing people and just make it simple.
