I try, I really try, and I’m a trained teacher, but I find it almost impossible to simply explain to my parents what software is, how to save documents in folders, what a folder is, what the desktop is… Dad still points to the shortcut to Word on his desktop and says “there’ll be some documents saved in there”! No, Dad! Aaargh! It’s such a new way of thinking for them, and so familiar to me (even though they have a[n ancient] PC and I’m a Mac user), and we just don’t seem to be able to communicate. It’s so frustrating, and it makes me really cross with myself. Must Do Better!

KaliTime Camaralzman is drooling over Vladimir Kozlov. Hey, at least I'm honest...
Learning Style
I don’t know if you’ve had an experience similar to mine or not but I learned about computers and the internet mainly by spending hours exploring everything.
Have you thought about just letting them fiddle with an old computer until they’re comfortable with more complicated tasks?
I wish you well on your endeavor. :-)
