Houston we've got a problem

This morning, I thought about this goal.

I think I got a problem here.

I obviously never learned how to keep in contact. My parents very rarely call me, and when I call, there is no connection, making me call not so often making them more distant and so the cycle goes around and around. And I obviously miss out on a lot of little hints….

I feel I miss out on something and I’ve got to learn.

Only what and how is totally unclear.

But it’s a start. We’ll see where we go from here.

Have you considered...

...a note in the mail?

This way they know you care enough to take the time to write something and post it, but it lacks the ‘on the spot’ feeling of a phone call.

Hmm

Hm. To be honest, no.
My parents live rather close to us, they consider real mail ridiculous. They don’t want me to send them Christmas cards or such :-(
Put perhaps email would be non-ridiculous.

Hm again.

Thank you for giving me something to think about!

Little gifts/acts of service?

Sometimes people struggle with hearing words or listening well, but really value small acts of service or little gifts.

One of the things I’ve started doing is baking goodies for myself and my sweetie, but making just enough extra that I can swing by my parent’s to drop off the goodies and a love note… my dad in particulare gobbles up the show of affection :) (often i’ll stop by when i know they aren’t home, so that i don’t even have to interface with them directly in the moment.)

Hmmmmm

Once again something to think about.
I doubt cookies would go over well, my stepmother is a great cook…
But I think acts of service might be a good idea…

Thank you!!
