Spent some of yesterday practising mixing tracks. Have a feeling this is gonna take me awhile. Just when I think I’ve got it the tracks start to gallop and then I just can’t figure out whether the track is too fast or too slow. All the drums get muddled in my head :(

It can do
But if you really want to keep people dancing you gotta mix the tracks.
Yes and No
Before you can do that you need to beatmatch. Which means setting both songs to the same BPM and aligning the beats. The songs have to roll on seamlessly without losing a beat. The next track has to sneak up on people until it explodes in at just the right moment. That’s the bit I’m trying too learn. There’s also selecting the tracks which is not as easy as it sounds. You can’t just play your favourite tracks in any old order. You’ve got to understand the mood of the crowd and play with it. DJ’s are big at the moment because they can do that.
