Learn to play a musical instrument
This one's tough.

I am immensely artistically-challenged, a fact I’ve always lamented. My dad is a terrific painter. Why couldn’t I have inherited an ounce of that talent? :)

A few years ago I took guitar lessons. I SUCKED. My bf plays guitar in a death metal band. He also draws pretty well. I guess I’m more logically-minded. I’m good with science and chemistry. Not so good with being creative. So this goal’s going to be tough. I’m not going to discard it just yet, but I really have no idea which instrument to try or where to begin. I guess I’ll check out what the folks who have completed this goal have to say about it.

To Andrea409

well, first of all, nobody really SUCKS at anything. Why not be a li’l gentle with yourself?
:)

Guitar is not a really easy musical instrument to learn. The only way to excel is to keep at it, even though you may feel hopeless in the beginning! Trust me, ‘cause I play the guitar, & i’ve been doing so for the past 5 years or so!

Now again, so what if you aren’t that good at playing the guitar? There are SO MANY other things for you to do! You should be grateful that you are good at subjects like science, which others find very difficult indeed!

The truth is, everybody is creative. Period.

You just have to find your own way of expressing yourself in a creative manner. Some take to music, some to writing, and others to different types of art forms.

I think you should give guitar a shot again, if you really like it! This time, maybe you should devite more time & effort to it, coz trust me, the results are totally worth it!

If you got any questions relating guitar, just drop a word! :)

P.S: Maybe should try keyboard or the piano! :P

Thanks

...for the encouragement! You’re right on many counts for sure. I was pretty terrible with guitar. I learned to play a few songs; and yeah I would have improved with more time and practice, but really I didn’t have the interest to continue. I’m generally willing to work at something if I’m interested, but this one didn’t do it for me. I have been considering piano. I’ll have to continue to give this more thought.

Take care! :)

Get yourself a harmonica

They are cheap, you can carry it anywhere and at all times, they are easy to play, and easy to learn. They also make great gifts, so if you have a friend who does everything with you buy them one too. No pressure just have fun. And have a nice day.

Awesome suggestion!

Thanks for this suggestion. This is the kind of feedback I’m looking for. I never considered the harmonica. It sounds like it’s my sorta thing too. Cheap, easy, and portable – I like that a lot. I will definitely look into this. Thank you!
