two hikes to burnt ridge

Both yesterday and today the girls and I got up at dawn and hiked to the top of Burnt Ridge. Amazingly, driving to the trailhead on this morning before Memorial Day, I enjoyed a beautiful view of a rainbow that ended right at the top of Memorial Hill.

It rained most of the hike, and by the end we were soaked. The rain made all the colors of the landscape more vivid. It also made the trail muddy! I finally remembered to bring my camera and took about a dozen lovely shots before my camera rudely advised me that the photo card was full. I’ll have to get another card and get some more photos tomorrow.

Both hikes were great, both took about 90 minutes and burned about 1000 calories.

Love it

As always your hiking posts make me smile, love the idea of hiking and just that you do it everyday almost and all
Plus walking in the rain is always good :)

I'm glad you like them.

I may be a little bit addicted to hiking… :)

You could download

the contents of your card to your computer and then clear the card and reuse it.

I always think about that

when I download my photos onto my computer. But then I worry about not having a back up if something should happen to my computer, so that’s why I end up saving the cards.

I have my photos backed up

six ways to Sunday. I have many on Flickr, I have a portable hard drive (actually three) and I sometimes just burn them onto dvd discs. Back up is always a good thing. I can better organize my photos by downloading to my hardrive and then backing up so I can find what I’m looking for.
